Bat Netting at SWWCC

Back in June I attended a bat netting in Scottsdale co-hosted by the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center and the Arizona Department of Wildlife.

We arrived early and got a tour of the facility, which takes in animals that are unable to be re-released into the wild. They have wolves, bears, cougars, coyotes, raccoons, bobcats and more. Unless you live near the outskirts of Scottsdale, it's quite a drive out there, but well worth it!

But onto the bats:

We didn't net and handle the bats ourselves (trained and vaccinated pros did that). But we got to see the animals as their measurements, weights and other data were collected before they were released. The handlers were very kind and offered a wealth of information as they held the bats out for photos.
